For the past 16 years, a revolutionary recovery process has quietly grown in Los Angeles: A 12 Step meeting with a yogic format. 11SY uses very basic, specifically sequenced postures, breath work and meditation, combined with 12 Step principles to treat & heal the nervous system and biochemistry of addiction, no matter what the substance. It is the only 12 Step meeting of its unique kind sanctioned by Alcoholics Anonymous.

No yoga experience, or recovery experience necessary, just a desire to elevate your connection with your own innate creative intelligence no matter how excruciating your life seems. Participants learn everyday skills to calm cravings, negativity and discomfort, transforming these into ease, open mindedness and willingness. The body and brain become a system of reason, intuition and worship. Britton, with 43 years of recovery, has trained an expert cadre of instructors who volunteer and are also in recovery.

This is an open meeting which follows the 12 traditions. It is donation only. All are welcome, including the recovery curious.

"Lord, make me a channel of your peace--that where there is hatred, I may bring love--that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness--that where there is discord, I may bring harmony--

that where there is error, I may bring truth--that where there is doubt, I may bring faith--that where there is despair, I may bring hope--

that where there are shadows, I may bring light--that where there is sadness, I may bring joy. Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted--to understand, than to be understood--to love, than to be loved.

For it is by self-forgetting that one finds. It is by forgiving that one is forgiven. It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life. Amen.”
